About Us

M. A. Walker & Associates was established in 2017 in Paignton, Devon by Michelle Walker (FCCA, MAAT). Michelle has a strong belief that accessing accountancy services should be both easy and cost effective for individuals and businesses alike and has brought this ethos to the business. M. A. Walker & Associates offer a comprehensive, understandable, friendly and reliable service all at extremely competitive rates.

Prior to establishing M. A. Walker & Associates Michelle spent 12 years working in private accountancy practice. Alongside managing the office and employees Michelle acted as a senior accountant undertaking the full range of accountancy services for a wide and varied client base.

We offer a free initial consultation to discuss your accounting requirements which can be undertaken at your premises, where located within Devon, at our registered office or electronically via telephone or video conference and will then provide a fixed price quotation to undertake the agreed work.

If you decide to come on board with M. A. Walker & Associates we will take away all of the hassle and will contact your previous Accountants to get all the information required to make the switch as easy and smooth as possible for you, all you will need to do is provide your permission.

Michelle made the decision when establishing the business that she did not want the costs of offices which would just end up being passed on to her clients. The team therefore work remotely using technology to keep in contact and share information.

With a focus on reducing our impact on the environment M. A. Walker & Associates try to utilise electronic methods wherever possible but do offer collection and drop off service for paperwork in Paignton, Torquay, Brixham, Newton Abbot, Totnes and surrounding areas where required.

Both to facilitate our approach to remote working and to ensure that all our client’s data fully protected and available we extensively make use of cloud-based (online) software and file sharing services.

Microsoft Office 365

Using the latest Microsoft technologies all our data and that of our client's is stored securely in the Microsoft cloud. This means that the data is always available no matter where we are or how we connect. Alongside this regular back-ups add that additional level of protection.

Xero

Xero is the emerging global leader of online accounting software that connects small businesses to their advisors. Xero provides business owners with real-time visibility of their financial position and performance in a way that’s simple, smart and secure.

At its core Xero is an easy-to-use but powerful online accounting system that was born in the cloud. Xero provides a growing family of over 800 connected solutions and direct bank feeds. Xero releases new features monthly. Additions and extensions to functionality are developed in response to the needs of new customers, new industries and the ever changing legislative requirements.

Whilst Xero is our preferred cloud accounting software partner we fully understand that some clients already use a particular piece of software and may not want or be in a position to change. Below are just a few of the other accounting platforms that we are using for clients currently.
